It’s the place where careers are made and dreams come true.

And while Jonah Ledesma and the rest of the members of United Front aren’t expecting their upcoming trip to Los Angeles to yield a record contract, making the trek to the place responsible for launching the careers of nearly every rock band in existence isn’t something they do every day.

Next month the group – three East Union graduates and an incoming senior – will test their mettle against some of the best bands in California when they attempt to rock the Battle of the Bands competition at the Los Angeles County Fair.

It could mean playing for thousands – not the handful of friends and family members that come out to their local gigs – and getting the sort of exposure they’ve long dreamed of.

“For us, it’s about the music,” Ledesma said. “We have our own brand and our own music and our own beat and being able to go to a place like that and represent our small little town of Manteca is fantastic.”

United Front consists of Ledesdma, the lead singer and rhythm guitarist,  lead guitarist Aaron Leonard, drummer Rodrigo Ramirez and bassist Ray Barber.
