Garden Club meeting today

The Manteca Garden Club is having its monthly meeting today and wants to invite anyone interested in gardening.

It will be at the Manteca Library on Center Street beginning with refreshments at 12:30 p.m., speaker at 1 p.m., and the meeting portion to follow the speaker.  The special speaker will be radio show host, expert garden show person, and author, Bob Tanabaum.  He will answer questions about your garden as well as be selling some of the four books he has written.   There is no charge for admission.

Astro Wizard at
library Wednesday

The Manteca Branch Library, 320 W, Center St., will host The Astro Wizard, Dave Rodrigues at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21.

The Astro Wizard will present a humorous, energetic and entertaining program that will forever change the way we all see the sky. Rodrigues is a lecturer at Morrison Planetarium and at the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco.

Military families
support group

The Manteca Military Families’ mission is to provide support to one another and support loved ones serving their country.

They meet once a month, on the third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the American Legion McFall Grisham Post #249, 220 E. Yosemite Ave., Manteca. The next meeting is Oct. 20.

Membership is open to family members of active duty military personnel from the Manteca/Ripon/Lathrop area serving in the states and around the world. They also welcome family members of National Guard and Reserve troops currently deployed overseas.

Sierra Boosters
dinner on Oct. 24

The Sierra High School Athletic Booster Dinner/Dance is Saturday, Oct. 24, from 6 p.m. to midnight at the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant St.

Tickets are $30 per person.  You must be 21 or older to attend.

Tickets can be purchased through Greg Leland at SHS.  For more information, call 858-7410.

New Haven rib
dinner Nov. 7

New Haven School Community Club is having their annual Rib Dinner & Dance on Saturday, Nov.7, at the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant St.

All-you-can-eat ribs by Fagundes, baked potatoes, salad, bread and wine are included in the price. There also will be a raffle plus silent and live auctions; No host cocktails are from 6 to 7 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. and dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Tickets are $30 per person (21 and older only) and are available at the school office at 14600 S. Austin Road or by calling Cyndi Ward at 823-0502.

Friends of the
Manteca Library
The Friends of the Manteca Library will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 21, at 9:30 a.m. in the library. Since the library is not open at that time, please knock on the door for admittance. All interested community members are invited.
