One of the challenges that costume coordinators of Disney’s “Cinderella Kids” faced was getting the right fit.

The cast of 35 members in the Cornerstone Community Theater production were first- through- eighth- grade students.

“I had to look for modest sizes,” said Susan Simi, who, along with Kristin Simi, had to do a combination of going to the various costume stores and making some alterations.

This included a number of trips to Fresno and Sacramento to pick up items at The Children’s Musical Theater and Decade Costume, respectively. “Sizing was our biggest challenge,” said Susan Simi during Thursday’s dress rehearsal.

Disney’s “Cinderella Kids” under the direction of Michealle Hoag opens tonight at 7 o’clock at Cornerstone Community Church, 17900 Comconex Road, Manteca.

A 2 p.m. matinee followed by a 7 o’clock encore performance is scheduled for Saturday.

Tickets are $5 for general seating and $10 for preferred seating.

The only costume to come close to a perfect fit was that of Cinderella, as played by Sydney Holt. Susan Simi noted that Zachary Cleek’s Grand Duke garb was also a nice fit.

Besides the costumes, the set consisting of the town and ball room was also impressive.

The cast worked with music / vocal coaches Scott Elliott and Kristin Scott.

Liliana Nanez plays the Stepmother while Faith Brown (Anastasia) and Nora Herzog-Mount (Drizella) are Cinderella’s step sisters.

Natalie Reese stars as the Fairy Godmother and Dawson Beachler is Prince Charming.

Hoag indicated that the cast and crew spent the past three weeks on Disney’s “Cinderella Kids” based on the screen play by Ken Anderson and Homer Brightman, with music and lyrics by Mack David, Al Hoffman, and Jerry Livingston, and music adapted and arranged by Bryan Louiselle.
