Homecoming is this week at Manteca High.

“MHS Makes the Cover Page” is the theme for this year’s annual event, with each class working on floats based on a national publication.
The freshmen, for example, will have a chance to incorporate People Magazine in their design.

The sophomores will work with Vogue while the juniors and seniors will make do with Rolling Stone and Sports Illustrated, respectively.

As part of homecoming, Manteca High students can enjoy music and festivities during their lunch period throughout the week.

They’ll also have a chance to get into the homecoming spirit with the various dress-up days.

The wear for each day is as follows:
•Monday – Roll out of bed / Lazy Day.
•Tuesday – Tie dye.
•Wednesday – Class theme day (students can dress up based on their class theme).
•Thursday – Ugly sweater day.
•Friday – Green and White.

The culmination of homecoming is the crowning of the queen and princess during half-time of Friday’s Manteca High varsity game against Ceres at Guss Schmiedt Field.

Kick-off is scheduled for 7:15 p.m.

Vying for queen are senior candidates Jordan Nunes, Kaylee Joaquin, Brianna Navarro, Davina Bennett and Chellsea Lee.

In the running for princess are Breanne Hatfield, Mia Ramirez and Myklyn Balmut.

Earlier in the day, the king and prince will be announced, with Anthony May, Dewey Uecker, Brad Hatfield, Esaies Freeman, and Reggie Bell among the hopefuls for king.

The nominees for prince are Joe Trout, Alex Sandate and Alex Martinez.
