The following is a summary of the significant Manteca Police Department events from the past week:

SHOOTING INVESTIGATION UPDATE: Last week the Manteca Police Department reported two of three suspects were arrested in relation to a shooting that occurred in the 500 block of Micheletos Way. Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) investigators working on the case have since identified the third suspect as 19-year-old Nathan Brown of Lathrop. GSU investigators served two search warrants and conducted a probation search in their efforts to locate Brown. Brown was eventually located and taken into custody without incident. He was charged with attempted murder, robbery and participating in a criminal street gang.

NARCOTICS INVESTIGATION: On Aug.1, the Street Crimes Unit (SCU) concluded a narcotics investigation by serving a search warrant in the 4300 block of Wild Ivy Lane in Salida. The Gang Suppression Unit (GSU) assisted with the service. During the execution of the search warrant, Detectives located more than 2 ounces of heroin, nearly 1 ounce of ecstasy, 45 hydrocodone pills and drug sales equipment. GSU also developed information that identified the suspects as participants in a criminal street gang. Arrested were 26-year-old Marc Machain and 29-year-old Cynthia Claros, both of Salida. Subsequent to SCU’s investigation in Salida, GSU conducted a probation search at a residence in the 9000 block of Deep Water Lane in Stockton. With the assistance of the Stockton Police Department, the residence was searched and Detectives located another 23 grams of heroin. The suspect at that location was identified as 26-year-old Raymond Cano, who was arrested and charged with selling heroin.

FOOT PURSUIT: On Aug. 4, Officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant in the 100 block of Sherman Avenue on 20-year-old Michael Baker. Baker had an outstanding felony warrant for burglary and possession of stolen property. When Officers made contact at the residence, Baker ran to a bathroom, jumped out a window and fled eastbound across Sherman Avenue. Baker jumped several fences but was eventually located in the 400 block of East Center Street by Officer Goforth and his K-9 partner Gage. Baker continued to run until officers got close enough to deploy a Taser and take him into custody.

ROBBERY: On Aug. 6, Officers received a report of a person being robbed with the use of firearm. The victim told police that she was walking in the 100 block of North Walnut Avenue when a male suspect demanded her cell phone and cash. The suspect lifted his shirt, exposing what appeared to be a firearm tucked into his waistband. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 19-21 years old, 5-foot-8 and weighing approximately 180 pounds.
