Stephen Joseph “Stevie” Richina, 57, of Sonora, died Sept. 29, 2009 at a Sonora hospital of throat cancer.

Mr. Richina was born in Stockton to Albert and Rose Richina. He grew up in Manteca and moved to Sonora in 1984.

He was a self-employed landscaper who enjoyed watching the San Francisco Giants baseball team and San Francisco ‘49ers football team. His family said he gave selflessly to those who needed help with projects.

Mr. Richina was preceded in death by his wife of 12 years, Marjorie Richina, in 1996. He is survived by his stepson, Shon Walter and his wife, Rossana, of Moab, Utah; grandchildren, Carlos and Isabella Walter, of Utah; siblings, Richard Richina, of Maryland, and Michael Richina, of Fresno; and aunts and uncles, Richard and Dee Richina, of Calaveras County, and Margie and Jim Moorman, of Manteca.

Donations in his memory may be made to a charity of choice. A service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Sonora. Terzich and Wilson Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
