On July 9, 2013 the good Lord called home Frank V. Gomes.  Frank passed away in his sleep at his home in Crescent City, CA.
Frank was born in French Camp, CA, were he grew up on a small dairy farm in Manteca, and graduated from Manteca High School in 1969.  He went into the Army and in 1971 received an honorable discharge and moved to San Diego.  There he met Debbie Lague his wife of 22 years.  In 1972, like his brothers, he enjoyed tuna fishing and spent the next six years working on a commercial tuna boat, traveling around the world to exotic locations like Africa, and the Caribbean Islands. In 1978 Frank came back to San Diego were he remained until around 1992.  He then moved north and became the care taker of Roaring Camp in Pine Grove.  He loved the outdoors and panning for gold, and just exploring anything that interested him.  He was a collector of things like old thimbles and wine corks and he liked to trade them.  In 2011, Frank finally retired to Crescent City, CA.  He once said he felt at home next to the ocean.
He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Arsins and Tony Gomes, his son Jason Gomes and brothers Anthony, Kenneth and Raymond Gomes.
He is survived by his brother Daniel J. Gomes and 13 nieces and nephews.  Frank will be missed dearly,  he had only friends in his life, because he had a special gift for making people feel happy, he could look at the world and always find something positive or tell a story at just the right time, and bring the mood up for all those around him.
The world has lost someone special and we will miss you.
Your family loves you, and we will remember you always.
A memorial service is being held on August 16, 2013 from 11:00a.m. to 3:00p.m. at Chez Cheri in Manteca.
