Asianya Jones is already recognized as a hero.

The Lathrop High student has received plenty of attention since doing the right thing following an after-school fracas last spring involving her fellow students in the school parking lot.

While her peers attempted to video the fight in hopes of creating a YouTube sensation, the 15-year-old Jones got involved by becoming the peace maker.

For that, she earned the Lathrop police’s “Make A Difference Award” over the summer.

On Tuesday, Jones is scheduled to be honored at the Manteca Unified school board meeting for her courageous action under Superintendent Jason Messer’s reports.

He’ll also recognize the Soroptimist International of Manteca for its generous donation of $5,000 to the MUSD Health Services Department.

The district office is located at 2271 W. Louise Ave.
