Odessa (Laverne) Miller

65-year Ripon resident

Laverne Miller, 88, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 22, 2009 in Ripon. She was born in Bridgeport, Texas on April 27, 1921 to Otis and Allie  Holley, and was a resident of Ripon for 65 years.  

She lived a happy and full life and was known as “Grandma Miller” to all who loved her. Laverne was a devoted Christian who gave of herself unconditionally to everyone she met. She very much enjoyed crocheting, sewing, canning and spending time with her family. She was a member of Ripona Christian Fellowship for many years.  

Laverne is survived by two sons Jim (Marianne) Miller and Ron (Karen) Miller both  of Ripon and a daughter Marcia Herzfeld of Stockton; 15 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was proceeded in death by husband Morris  (Buster) Miller, parents Otis and Allie Holley, siblings Joyce Taylor, Sonny Holley, Madge Holley and Mona Sadler, two children Norman Miller and Connie Kirby, a granddaughter Amy Hoffman and three great-grandchildren Timothy and Jeremy Goodman and Nathaniel Miller.  

We will cherish the memory of our mother, our grandmother, our great and great-great-grandmother, whose memory will continue to live in our hearts.  

A graveside service will be held at Ripon Memorial Cemetery, 320 N. Stockton Ave., Ripon on Thursday, October 29, at 2 p.m.
