VFW breakfast set for Nov. 1

The Manteca Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6311 and Ladies Auxiliary are hosting a pancake breakfast fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 1.

It will benefit the veterans in the hospital in Livermore, local veterans and their families, treats for troops, and funds to maintain and repair medical equipment.

They will be serving pancakes, ham, eggs, juice, milk and coffee on Sunday, Nov. 1, from 7 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Masonic Lodge 212 Powers Avenue, Manteca. Tickets for adults $6 and children $3.

Tickets will be available at the door or by contacting Post Commander Rodney Sevedge at 239-1092; Auxiliary President Veronica Reyes at 825-4555.

Senior flu shots in Lathrop Tuesday

The City of Lathrop in conjunction with the Manteca Walgreens drug store will be offering flu shots on Tuesday, Oct. 27.

The flu shots will be administered at the Community Center Gym from 9 to 11 a.m. The cost will vary: seniors with Medicare parts B&D, will receive the shots at no cost; Medicare D with Secondary Coverage Supplement will receive a co-payment which is under $12; and seniors not covered will have to pay a fee of $24.99 for their shot.

Artist Guild show & sale on Nov. 1

The eighth annual Manteca Artist Guild show and sale will be held Sunday, Nov. 1, from noon to 4 p.m. at Chez Shari on the second floor of the Manteca Golf Course. Admission is free.

Featured will be the original creations of various artists in the area including oils, pastels, watercolors and other media. Most of these will be on sale. For further details, call the guild’s current president, Dan Voller, at 823-4863.

New Haven rib dinner Nov. 7

New Haven School Community Club is having their annual Rib Dinner & Dance on Saturday, Nov. 7, at the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant St.

All-you-can-eat ribs by Fagundes, baked potatoes, salad, bread and wine are included in the price. There also will be a raffle plus silent and live auctions; no host cocktails are from 6 to 7 p.m. with dinner at 7 p.m. and dancing from 9 p.m. to midnight.

Tickets are $30 per person (21 and older only) and are available at the school office at 14600 S. Austin Road or by calling Cyndi Ward at 823-0502.

FESM steak & oyster dinner

The FESM Steak and Oyster dinner is set for Saturday, Nov. 7, at the FESM Hall at 240 N. Main St.

No host cocktails are at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and dancing from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. with the music provided by Manuel Jacinto.  Tickets are $30 per adult and $15 for children ages 6-12.  Those interested can call Carlos & Melissa at 825-5089 or Danny & Melanie at 824-0151.

MRPS Halloween Festival & Dance

The MRPS Halloween Festival and Dance takes place Saturday, Oct. 31, at the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant St. from 4 p.m. to midnight.

There is an adult costume contest at 10:30 p.m. and a kid’s costume contest at 8:30 p.m.

The family orientated event includes a bounce house, games, prizes, food, pumpkin painting and cake walk. The cost is $5 for adults 16 and older while those 15 and under are free.
