RIVERBANK – It’s never easy to rebound when you find yourself down by two touchdowns at halftime.

But the Ripon Christian Knights refused to give up on Friday and unleashed a massive fourth quarter offensive attack that would result in three touchdowns and just enough to down the Riverbank Bruins in front of their home crowd 28-21.

“We came out and probably played out worst first half of the year, then came back and played our best fourth quarter of the year,” Ripon Christian head coach John Vander Schaaf said. “After halftime our defense had things figured out. We just needed to execute on offense, and everybody buckled down and executed the plays we needed to.”

Josiah Neeley carried the bulk of the workload for the Knights, finishing with 97 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries.

Quarterback Tyler Voogd was 9-of-18 from the pocket for 182 yards and a touchdown.

And while good old fashioned football was what carried Ripon Christian the majority of the way, a little bit of deception helped as well – a halfback pass that Isaac Norman to David Kramer that ignited the offensive flame that would carry the Knights to victory.

Both Norman and Neeley would score the other individual touchdowns in the fourth quarter that gave Ripon Christian the lead.

Oakdale 56, Weston Ranch 14
With 415 yards on the ground the undefeated Oakdale Mustangs trounced host Weston Ranch 55-14 Friday night without having to complete a pass.

Quarterback Allen Embry helped lead several drives that allowed the Cougars to get on the board, finishing the night 11-of-19 from the pocket with 200 passing yards and two touchdowns.

Angell Mayfield was the main target of Embry with his five catches for 53 yards.
