Back-to-School Night is an opportunity for parents to meet their student’s teachers and, at the same time, learn about class rules and grading policy.

At Ripon High, parents and guardians will kick off Back-to-School Night at 6 o’clock Wednesday in the North Gym.

They’ll also follow an abbreviated class schedule of their youngster.

Back-to-School Night will begin with a brief meeting before folks depart the gym for the first-period session.

School officials say it’s important to stay on schedule in order to give every parent an opportunity to meet and listen to their student’s teacher.

For more information, call Mary Machado at 209-599-4287.

Other Back-to-School events include:

Sierra High

Teachers at the Manteca Unified campus will meet folks on Wednesday in the cafeteria and large gymnasium.

But in order for the process to work accordingly, parents of students whose last names begin with letters ‘A’ through ‘K’ can meet with instructors from 6 to 7 p.m. Those with the last names that begin with the letters ‘L’ to ‘Z’ can do likewise from 6:45 to 8 o’clock.

Parents are being reminded to spend only a few minutes with any one teacher.

“This enables all parents the opportunity to spend time with their student’s teacher and leads to less waiting in line,” said Assistant Principal Dan Beukelman.

Those who wish to discuss their student’s progress in detail or with more in-depth questions are being asked to make appointments with the teachers.

Counselors will also be available to meet with folks looking to discuss schedules or the future plans of their student.

In addition, the Sierra Future Farmers of America chapter coupled with FHA-HERO will be sponsoring a barbecue hamburger with all the fixings ($6) or hotdog with or without onions ($5) from 4 to 7 p.m. under the cafeteria overhang.

East Union

Parents and guardians at East Union can follow their youngster’s abbreviated class schedule beginning at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

But before that, they’ll have a chance to enjoy refreshments and other goodies as provided by the various vendors and school groups in the quad.

The EU High band will also perform.

Manteca High

Back-to-School Night at Manteca High is scheduled from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

At the Dawson Center (MHS cafeteria), food and beverages will be made available to those in attendance. Folks can also stop by and visit the various club booths for more information.

Classroom visitation begins at 6:15.

Each class will meet for 10 minutes and will have a five-minute passing period.

Teachers will be on hand to share information about their courses. School officials say this is not the time to discuss individual grades.

“If you need to discuss your child’s progress, please contact that teacher and make an appointment,” said Nina Norton.

In order to do so, click on to ‘faculty & staff’ window on the MHS website,
