The Manteca High frosh-soph soccer team are a few steps away from completing a perfect season after another lopsided Valley Oak League win Tuesday at home.

The Buffaloes (12-0) had little trouble disposing the Wildcats, beating Sonora 10-0 at Curran Park. Cameron Crippen got things going in a hurry for the squad, tallying his first goal in the games’ ninth minute on an assist from Cesar Reyes.

Manteca would go into the intermission with a 4-0 lead thanks to a pair of goals from Niko Gonzalez, both assisted by Giovanni Marin, and a goal from Marin himself. Gabriel Zamudion abandoned his defensive position during the second half to score two goals of his own, while teammates Nacho Valdovinos and Ricardo Marin scored a goal apiece.

“We took advantage of our home field,” head coach Geno Geerlof said. “And we battled the elements, making sure that we remained focused on our task at hand.”

East Union 15, W. Ranch 0
The Lancers improved to 9-2-1 in VOL action with a one-sided 15-0 win over Weston Ranch. East Union built a 8-0 halftime lead and never looked back, cruising to an easy victory in league action.

Three Lancers were able to close out the contest with hat-tricks, as Jairo Baires, Miguel Barbosa and Derrick Souza all scored three times in the win. Byron Zelaya and Scott Fisher both found the back of the net twice in the win. East Union also got goals from Collin Scholl and Francisco Tapia to round out the scoring.

VOLLEYBALL
Ripon High rolled to a two-game sweep over the host Ripon Christian Knights, taking the Trans Valley League matchup 25-18 and 25-15 for the win.

The Indians improved to 13-0 in TVL play and an amazing 30-1 over the season, searching for their third consecutive TVL crown. Madison Allen paced the club with 20 assists, two kills and two aces, while teammate Tyler White posted five kills and five blocks in the win.

Alyssa Leslie chipped in three kills and a block  and Rose Beeler and Paige Burrell added five kills and an ace and 10 digs and an ace, respectively.
