Emily Gallegos Hernandez, 80, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, in Modesto. A resident of Manteca for the last 24 years, she was born January 25, 1929 in Santa Paula, CA. She leaves behind her two loving children; daughter Evangeline Perez and son-in-law John H. Perez and son Rudolfo Hernandez and daughter-in-law Emily Jean Hernandez all of Manteca. Grandchildren; John Perez Jr. and wife Tiffany of Manteca, Daniel Perez and wife Laura of Stockton, Lydia Cook and husband Nathan of Salida, Sharon Johnson and husband Thomas of Dundalk, MD and Rudy Hernandez of Manteca. Siblings Frank Gallegos of Union City and Lydia Black of Alamogordo, NM. She was also blessed with 18 great-grandchildren, Priscilla, John, Thomas, Tayler, Payton, Alyson, Stefanie, Ashtyn, Samuel, Brianna, Daniel Jr., Amelia, Jasmine, Nathan, Joshua, Luke, Matthew, and Erik.

A retiree of Golden Grain, Emily was a full-time member of the Central Valley Baptist Church. Known as Grammy to her 18 great-grandchildren, Emily was well-known for her warm affection towards family and friends, often demonstrated through meals and baked goods prepared and shared by her with others. She was an avid gardener and loved to beautify a garden with flowers. Emily enjoyed a sunny disposition and joyful spirit, which often led her to sing hymns for others, both in English and Spanish.

Emily was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolfo Hernandez; brother, Ysidro Gallegos and two infant children, Yvonne and Roy Hernandez.
