Ella Lavaughn Elliott “Hila”

Ella Lavaughn Elliott “Hila” entered into rest on, October 25, 2009 in Manteca, at the age of 95. She was born on December 25, 1913 in Nebraska.  She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Lloyd Elliott as well as 5 brothers and 3 sisters.  Hila was a resident of Manteca for 76 years.   Mrs. Elliott is survived by her beloved children; (daughter) Joan Costa and her husband Gary of Manteca, and  (son) Donald Lee Elliott of Manteca. She was blessed by five grandchildren; Kim Beck, Paul Costa, Victoria Elliott, Timothy Elliott, and Rebecca Battersby. Her great-grandchildren are Tim Beck, Phillip Beck, Brittany Costa, Taylor Costa, Camryn Costa, Leonard Sangmaster, Jamie Sangmaster and 5 other great-grandchildren whom she loved dearly. In addition Hila had one great-great-grandson Austin. Hila worked at various department stores around Manteca including Mars Department Store, Manteca Variety, Manteca Department Store and Tipton’s Stationery. She enjoyed traveling to local casino’s with her late husband. She was an excellent seamstress and an amazing cook. Hila was extremely talented at needlepoint, crocheting, tole painting, and floral arranging. She never missed an opportunity to play a great game of cards with friends and family. She took great pride in her home always keeping it just right. Her family was her pride and joy, she kept each and every one near and dear to her heart.  Mrs. Elliott’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2009 from 1 to 5 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. A service will be held on Friday October 30, 2009 at 10 a.m. also held at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home.
