East Union standout sophomore Brooke Riley continued to play impressive golf on Wednesday afternoon.

Riley shot a 2-under 35 at the Manteca Park Golf Course and took medalist honors during a lopsided 216-322 victory over visiting Oakdale.

Riley is currently ranked No. 1 in Northern California for her age group.

“She’s playing great,” East Union head coach Brian Goulart said. “We have some super-skilled young ladies, but (Riley) is super special.

“The girls just work hard. They practice all summer long and you can see it pays off every time they take a swing.”

Brittany Ugalino shot a 42, respectively. Jordan Vinson (45), Breanna Perkins (47) and Brittany Conijn (48) rounded out the Lancers’ total. Rebeca Leonard shot 56.

Lathrop 3, Edison 1

Lathrop picked up its first win of the season and improved to 1-2 after knocking off Edison on the road.

After Edison tied the match at one apiece, Lathrop pulled out a 29-27 win in the third game that helped shift momentum to the Spartans.

Desiree Mendola led the team in digs (20) and Loreal Taylor finished with a team-high six kills. Kim Duenas finished with 12 service points for the Spartans, who will play against Liberty Ranch and Gustine next week.

Manteca 5, Delhi 1

Manteca’s Brandon Landwehr had three assists and a score during the Buffaloes’ four-goal victory over Delhi.

Jesus Ponce, Ramon Rodriguez and Landwehr scored Manteca’s three first-half goals. Kevin Rodriguez and Jose Morin scored the last two in the second half.

Manteca had 26 shots on goal and goalkeeper Abdiel Chiquito finished with 10 saves.

Manteca’s sophomore team defeated Delhi, 7-0.

Weston Ranch 1, Chavez 0

Freshman Francisco Garcia scored the eventual game-winning goal less than 20 minutes into the ball game. Goalkeeper Jose Andrade tallied six saves.

Esteban Paramo and Mariano Perez played solid in the midfield, according to head coach Francisco Cisneros.
