STOCKTON – Andrew Brown had a night to remember.

The senior running back had a hand in all seven first-half scores to lead Ripon Christian to a convincing 69-6 non-league victory over Jim Elliot Christian at Lincoln High’s Spanos Stadium. He also racked up 117 yards on nine carries.

“We did a great job executing tonight,” said Brown, who was quick to praise his offensive line of Jake Schollenberg, David Henderson, Tyler Driesen, and Eric Broker for their efforts.

The Knights (1-0) reeled off 386 yards on the ground. Casey Kamper had a game-high 161 yards while scoring twice and Kevin Kramer chipped in with 76 yards and a score.

RC coach Randy Fasani was proud of his defense, crediting defensive coordinator Eddie Erdelatz. “He has our guys flying to the ball,” he said.

Elliot Christian (0-1) did most of the damage statistically late in the second-half with the game out of reach.

The Knights wasted little time getting on the scoreboard. On the second play from scrimmage, Brown turned a short pass from Billy Marr into a 27-yard TD.

Moments later, RC was back in business as the defense – led by a Kamper – had the Eagles on the ropes. Brown did his part by scoring on a 10-yard run. He’d also turn a short pass from Marr into a 61-yard score.

Marr later connected with Jared Stuit on an 11-yard TD pass. Bashar Shammas set things up with his play on special team’s punt coverage. Brown’s 34-yard run to close out the first half gave RC a 34-0 half-time advantage.

The Knights will take on Ripon High next week. But don’t call it a rivalry just yet.

“It’s not a rivalry until we prove that we can beat RHS,” said Fasani.
