Sierra notches first win against Kimball

Postseason hopeful Sierra picked up its first win Monday at Manteca Park Golf Course after beginning the Valley Oak League season with two losses against the top squads.

Lexus Barnes was the runaway low medalist with an 8-over-par 45 on the front nine, as the Timberwolves upended Kimball of Tracy, 266-299. Kimball, expected to be one of the teams to compete for a Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV playoff berth, fell to 2-1 on the season.

McKenna Doyle and Vanessa Rodriguez each carded a 52 for Sierra. Kayla Wilson added a 53, and Kaitlea Maestas rounded out the team score with a 60. The Timberwolves scored the four lowest scores of the day.

Maya Crooms posted a 56 to lead Kimball.
