COLUMBIA — Friends of Columbia State Historic Park are once again hosting the Stories in Stone Cemetery Tour at the historic Columbia Cemetery.

This once-a-year evening event will be led by costumed volunteers holding lanterns to light the way. Guests will stop at specific gravesites where stories of those who have lived and died in Columbia will be told by some very convincing characters. Listen to some funny, some sad and some horrendous stories from these people who lived during a different period of time and shaped the town’s history.

“My favorite part of this event is seeing these historical figures come to life through the research and portrayals from our volunteers,” said tour coordinator Dolores Ward. “To hear the stories of Owen Fallon, Michael Rehm and so many others in Columbia really brings history to life.”

The tour begins promptly at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights: Sept. 27, 28 and October 4, 5. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (209) 588-9128. Tickets are $25/person and all proceeds benefit interpretation and education programs in the park through the non-profit organization Friends of Columbia State Historic Park.

For information contact the Columbia State Historic Park office at (209) 588-9128.
