Karate demonstrations, karaoke, free raffle and prize giveaways are on tap Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Marketplace shopping center on West Yosemite Avenue.

The event is a Progressive Community Open House from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. when the public will have the opportunity to meet and get to know their local businesses.

Among the attractions will be a karate demonstration featuring the young students at Manteca Martial Arts, one of the businesses taking part in this event. The karate demonstrations will start at 2 p.m. in front of Café Aroma. The café is right across the parking lot at Carl’s Jr.

Monica Cane of A Breath of Inspiration Ministry was a former owner of Café Aroma. A few years ago, she sold the café which has had two owners since. Now under new management, Cane is back working at the place that she used to own.

“Back to Café Aroma I go to continue the vision I originally had of serving people and sharing faith – and helping the new owner build his business,” said Cane who is also a writer and the author of several inspirational books.

Anchored by Save Mart, the Marketplace shopping center is also home to many other businesses including Roosterjuice next to Big Lots! which was the former Cinema 10 movie theatre.

Marketplace is located at the corner of West Yosemite Avenue and South Union Road.
