Family was his priority

Carmelo Olivera, 82, passed away on Monday, October 26, 2009 with his family by his side. He was born December 3, 1926 in Adjunta, Puerto Rico to the late Joaquin and Ana Rosa Rivera De Olivera.

A resident of the San Joaquin valley for nearly 55 years, home was always in Puerto Rico. Together with his wife, he traveled frequently back and forth a, spending several years at time with his family. He leaves behind his loving wife of 54 years, Miriam Cortez De Olivera; Seven devoted children; Miriam, Lucy, Jose, Ana, David, Albert, and Janet, 20 wonderful grandchildren and 37 adoring great grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings; Ana Rosa, Luis, Ana Joaquina, Candida and Isabel; Niece, Pricilla; Nephew, Javier and many others.   

 Mr. Olivera was very fond of music and enjoyed singing and dancing with his one true love, Miriam. His favorite pass time was tending to his roses always taking great pride in them; no “house” was ever “home” until he successfully planted a garden.

Carmelo’s priority was always his family; he loved them dearly and wanted nothing but the best for all of them. He will forever be remembered as a loyal and supportive man with a generous heart.

Arrangements are under the direction of P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road. Visitation will be open to family and friends beginning at 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009. A Rosary/Vigil Service will immediately follow at 6 p.m. A Prayer Service will follow at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, 11 a.m. Burial services are private.
