Drugs and cash were taken in an armed robbery at Bob’s Pharmacy near the corner of Fremont and Yosemite avenues shortly before 2 p.m. Monday.

Manteca Police and witnesses said three black men wearing sun glasses and hoodies were involved in the incident where the pharmacy staff was ordered to the floor at gunpoint as two of the men demanded cash from the register and bottles of a cough syrup with codeine from the store’s shelves.

Two staffers were put on the floor by a man with a semi-automatic weapon. The owner and a customer were told to hit the floor near the front door as they looked at a sawed-off shotgun pointed toward them.

A New York couple driving down Yosemite spotted the pair get into their getaway car that was parked in the back parking lot of the Manteca Bulletin office building.  Another witness reportedly saw the trio drive off in a northbound direction on Fremont Avenue and then head west on Center Street.  The couple attempted to follow the men in what was described as a late model blue metallic Honda sedan with paper plates.

Two other Manteca residents said they were going to a restaurant across the street when they saw the three men walking back and forth in front of the pharmacy before the robbery actually took place.

Pharmacist Brian Cole said he was happy that none of his three staff members or his customer were hurt in the incident that left them all shaken for the rest of the afternoon.

Police detained a trio adjacent to Hildebrand Park at nearby Fir Street and Garfield Avenue an hour later but found no connection with the robbery.
