An ‘Optima-l’ midsize ride

It may be one of among the most affordable midsize cars around.

But what makes the 2013 Kia Optima stand out from the competition is performance coupled with good fuel economy and many of the top safety features.

Test drivers found this sporty midsize as being nimble in handling and a comfortable ride. The Optima featured in the showroom at Kia Country in Manteca packs a 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder gas direct injection engine with six-speed automatic transmission, electric power steering and 16-inch tires with alloy wheels.

As for fuel efficiency, this Kia is capable of a combined 28 miles per gallon, including 24 mpg city and 35 mpg highway.

Inside the Optima has a feel of an upscale midsize car, from comfortable and roomy cabin, to standard high-tech features such as Bluetooth, satellite radio, USB and auxiliary jacks, and even a cooling glove box.

Of course, Kia offers this four-door sedan with a navigation system, rearview camera, an Infinity surround-sound audio system, HD Radio, push-button start and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Safety features consist of dual front advanced airbags not to mention front seat mounted and full-length side curtain airbags. The three-point seatbelts has all-seating positions while the lower anchors and tethers provide safety for children.

This car also has anti-lock brakes, traction control system, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management and hill assist control.
