OAKDALE — Murder rides the rails out of Oakdale.

It’s part of the popular Sierra Railroad Murder Mystery Train that combines a relaxing ride on the same line where Hollywood standards such as “Back to the Future” and TV favorites such as “Petticoat Junction” were partially filmed, elegant food, and roaming entertainment.

The Sierra Railroad hosts the longest running murder mystery show in the California Central Valley. Inspired by such classics as Murder on the Orient Express, a moving train is the ideal location to experience a murder mystery show. They take a light-hearted approach to the show offering a memorable evening of laughter and good food while you ride through the countryside. The train ride is 3 to 3.5 hours long.

The next two murder mystery train rides depart the Sierra Pacific Railroad station at 330 S. Sierra Ave. adjacent to the Oakdale city park at the junction of Highway 120 and 108 on Saturday, Oct, 19, and Saturday, Nov. 9, at 4 p.m.  The train for today sold out weeks ago attesting to its popularity.
