POSTED October 17, 2013 4:43 p.m.

The Manteca Police Department led a coordinated effort Thursday morning to take down a sophisticated drug manufacturing and distribution network in San Joaquin County that they had been investigating for more than a year.

More than 28 pounds of methamphetamine and nearly 300 pounds of processed marijuana were recovered after five search warrants were simultaneously served at houses across San Joaquin County. Two arrests were made, and according to Manteca Police Detective Sergeant Chris Mraz, more are expected in the coming days as more information becomes available.

Assisting the Manteca Police Street Crimes Unit were the San Joaquin County Metro Narcotics Task Force, the Stockton Police Department Gang Violence Suppression Unit, the Ripon Police Department and a host of additional Manteca police units including the School Resource, Gang Suppression and Traffic units.
