RIPON — After months of having food and other items stolen from his business numerous times, the frustrated owner of Olde Towne Bar in Ripon finally decided to install video surveillance cameras inside the facility to catch the culprit.

On Tuesday, he finally got his payback.

When the restaurant owner arrived at work on Tuesday, he viewed the video tapes. Caught on tape was a former employee coming in and out the back door of the restaurant several times, and each time she was carrying a basket of food and beverages.

When deputies with the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office arrived after receiving a report about a burglary at the restaurant, the business owner showed them the video tape. He also told the deputies that he personally knows the person caught in the video tape because she was a former employee. Furthermore, he told the deputies the woman lived with her boyfriend in an apartment located just behind the restaurant, which is located at the 15000 block of East Highway 120.

When the deputies went to the suspect’s home to investigate, they found the stolen food items in the woman’s refrigerator.

The suspect, 27-year-old Krista Swift, was arrested and booked into San Joaquin County Jail on charges of petty theft with a prior, burglary, and receiving stolen property.
