STOCKTON — The popular classic “A Christmas Carol” is Stockton Civic Theatre’s offering for the holiday season. Opening Wednesday, Nov. 13, the musical gets the full Broadway treatment under the direction of Joseph Toon with music by Alan Menken, and book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and Mike Ockrent.

This heart-warming musical adaptation is based on the beloved, timeless Christmas story by Charles Dickens about miser Ebenezer Scrooge who is given a chance for redemption when he is haunted by ghosts on Christmas Eve.

Scott Minor returns to the SCT stage as miser Scrooge, with Eddie Hargreaves playing the put-upon Bob Cratchit.  Portraying the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future will be Vince Peralta, Jesse Beltran and Melissa Esau respectively.  Samantha Bement plays Mrs. Cratchit, and Nathan Origer takes the role of tiny Tim.  Familiar faces and some newcomers fill out the extensive cast.

This is Toon’s second stint as a director, having previously directed last season’s “Grease.”  He is assisted by Assistant Director Elaine Saculla, Music Director Tom Coyan, and Choreographer Jennifer Hastings.  The set is designed by Carol Barry.

“A Christmas Carol” features a $15 per seat preview on Wednesday, Nov.13, at 7:30 p.m.  A reception for opening night patrons catered by AVE on the Mile will be held on Friday, Nov. 15, at 6:30 p.m.  Performances continue through Sunday, Dec. 8, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.  There will be no performance on Thanksgiving, but a special matinee on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 1  p.m.

Tickets are $25 for adults, $21 for seniors, and $15 for students and children 12 and under.

The theatre is located at 2312 Rose Marie Lane, Stockton. For tickets, call the Box Office Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at (209) 473-2424, or go online at sctlivetheatre.com.
