The New England Patriots acquired nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga from the Philadelphia Eagles along with a sixth-round pick in 2014 for a fifth-rounder next year.

Sopoaga, who spent his first nine seasons with San Francisco, had signed an $11 million, three-year deal as a free agent. The 32-yar-old Sopoaga helps replace Pro Bowl nose tackle Vince Wilfork, who is out for the season.

Foles cleared to play

Nick Foles returned to practice for the first time since sustaining a concussion in Philadelphia’s 17-3 loss to Dallas on Oct. 20. With Michael Vick sidelined, Foles will likely start for the Eagles (3-5) at Oakland (3-4) this week unless he has a setback in his recovery.

Stolen Super Bowl ring

NFL Hall of Famer Lance Alworth got his Super Bowl ring back Tuesday — 21 years after it was stolen. The former wide receiver for the Chargers and the Cowboys contacted authorities after receiving a phone call Sept.7 from a caller demanding $40,000 for the ring.

Cheerleaders pranked

Already reeling from a four-game losing streak, the Dolphins have now been forced to scramble because of a computer prankster. The Dolphins fixed their cheerleader web site Tuesday after it began sending mobile users to a pornography site.
