Ripon Christian sophomores end  2nd in SL after beating Le Grand

Ripon Christian kept the Le Grand sophomores off the score board for the final three quarters Friday night and rolled to a second-place finish in the Southern League on Friday with a 36-6 win at Stouffer Field.

 Derek Dotinga was the work horse for the Knights (5-1 SL, 7-2 overall), gaining 122 yards on 22 carries with touchdown runs of 1 yard on 6 yards. Travis Zuidervaart added 75 yards on 11 carries with a touchdown run of 25 yards and Connor McGovern (seven carries, 26 yards) added touchdown runs of 3 and 5 yards.



Manteca 40, East Union 0

 In a word – perfection.

 The Buffaloes put their stamp on a Valley Oak League championship and undefeated season with a resounding win over their cross-town rival Friday at Guss Schmiedt Field.

 Bobby Bratton was the only player for Manteca (7-0 VOL, 10-0 overall) to score twice – once with a touchdown reception and the other on a run. Marcus Rivas (10 carries, 112 yards),  Dakarai Charles (five carries, 40 yards) and Jonathon Yager each had touchdown run while Charles and Tyler Graves each had a touchdown throw, with Graves’ coming on his only attempt.



Sierra 42, Weston Ranch 7

 Mark Paule, Edgar Villanueva, Enrique Jasso Tommy Swanson and Tim Brown were the defensive standouts for the Timberwolves who helped shut down the Cougars offense.

 Jess Spivey threw touchdown passes for Sierra (5-1-1 Valley Oak League, 7-2-1) of 20 and 30 yards to Mark Paule of and one to Daniel Wyatt of 18 yards. Bryan Terrell had touchdown runs of 5 and 30 yards and a kickoff return of 85 yards.

 Matt Murphy anchored the dominating Timberwolves line from his center position.

 Sierra finished second in the VOL.



Lathrop 26, Kimball 6

 The Spartans used a balanced attack on offense and a suffocating defense to down the Jaguars in VOL action.

 Diego Chavez was 7 of 9 passing for 112 yards with touchdown of passes of 35 yards to Keenan Donatelli-Bryant and 2 yards to Jakari Thompson. R.J.  Tisdell (six carries, 72 yards) had a 52-yard touchdown run and led the three-pronged rushing attack along with Jakari Thompson (nine carries, 51 yards) and Diego Chavez (six carries, 53 yards). Bryant-Donatelli: had two receptions for 45 yards and Thompson three receptions  for 29 yards.

 Jared Atkins scored a touchdown on a fumble recovery for Lathrop and Diego Chavez (13 tackles, sack), Rob Luckett (eight tackles, sack) and Donatelli-Bryant (six tackles) all had great defensive games.
