Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

The article that I read Wednesday morning (“For artist, faith & pain go together”) made me think about how God must be feeling. To think that this man Jessie Marinas had to go through all his pain to paint (the “Eaglehearts” mural) as something he believed in. He kept asking God to help him feel good to keep painting. I passed by Tuesday to view the mural and thought it was so beautiful and touching.

That is until Wednesday morning when I found out that the mural was not accepted as painted on account of the Bible that was shown on one of the hands. What is wrong is that Jessie Marinas actually let them convince him to remove the Bible! After what he went through and prayed to God to help him paint. He let somebody ask him to remove it, and he did. That was the heart of his labor. Now to me it is just a picture. Sometimes I wonder how some people who say they believe in God and yet let others convince them that God does not exist. The Bible is God. Read it people, it is your life story. Do you think you get up in the morning just because is time to wake up? Don’t you say Thank you God for giving me another day? Let us not assume that life is just handed to us. We are God’s hands and He is still in charge. As for Mr. Marinas, you just lost some of the faith you had in yourself. I don’t blame you, you were just trying to make Manteca look good with your talent. Forgive them Lord, for they know not what they have done.
