SAN ANDREAS . (AP) — The attorney for a 13-year-old Central California boy charged with stabbing his sister to death says the boy did not say anything to investigators that would hurt him at trial.

Mark Reichel told KCRA-TV on Wednesday that he would likely not try to exclude the boy's statements during the trial over 8-year-old Leila Fowler's death. Reichel spoke as a judge set a March 5 trial date.

The boy initially told investigators that he found his sister's body and encountered an intruder at their home in the Calaveras County community of Valley Springs on April 27. The report prompted an intense manhunt.

He was later arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the slaying. He has pleaded not guilty.
