Manteca parade entry deadline is Thursday

The Northern San Joaquin Valley’s longest running twilight holiday parade is gearing up for its 41st run.

“Frosty the Snowman” is the theme of the Manteca Chamber of Commerce procession that marks Santa Claus’ official return to downtown Manteca on Saturday, Dec. 7, at 5 p.m.

Lights are required on all entries. The parade is being limited to 120 entries. There is a $50 entry fee.

The deadline for entries is Thursday, Nov. 21, at 5 p.m. Entry forms are available at the front desk of the city clerk’s office at the Manteca Civic Center or by dropping by the Manteca Chamber of Commerce office at 183 W. North St., Suite 6. You can also call the chamber at 823-6121 for more information.

Among upcoming holiday events are:

HOLIDAY BOUTIQUE: East Union Sober Grad will be hosting a Holiday Boutique on Saturday, November 23, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the East Union parking lot.  This fundraiser is to raise money for a safe and sober graduation celebration for the Class of 2014.  For information on vendor space, please contact Ivy at 209-430-8327 or by email at ivyv75@yahoo.com.  There are more than two dozen vendors already participating.



RIPON TREE LIGHTING: Ripon’s Christmas Tree Lighting festivities take place Saturday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial at the corner of Locust Avenue and First Street. The evening will feature voices from the Ripon Christian choir, a season’s blessing from Pastor Glen Shirk of Ripon Grace Brethren Church, and of course, hot cocoa and cookies.

TASTE OF RIPON: The Taste of Ripon takes place Thursday, Dec.  5,  from 6 to 9 p.m. in downtown Ripon. Spend an evening strolling from business to business in Downtown Ripon sampling the delectable offerings and visiting with friends and neighbors. Participants offer food and beverage and decorate extravagantly for this favorite holiday tradition. A commemorative glass provided by McManis Family Vineyards is included in the price of the ticket. Tickets are $25 per person and available online at http://ow.ly/qROXt or from the Ripon Chamber of Commerce. Must be 21 year of age and older to attend. Call (209) 599-7519 for more information. COSTA’S WILD GAME FEED: The annual Costa’s Wild Game Feed and Holiday Benefit Party to raise funds for needy Manteca families takes place on Friday, Dec. 6, from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Manteca Trailer & Motorhome.
