In two separate robberies Tuesday – one at noon and the other at midnight – robbers hit Chase Bank at 123 Spreckels Avenue as well as Wal-Mart on South Main Street.

The bank incident occurred when no other customers were in the facility at 11:36 a.m. A lone robber presented a teller with a hand written note demanding cash and saying he had a weapon.    He was described by Ripon Police after viewing the tape as probably being the same suspect that robbed Bank of the West in that community last week.

He was described as being a Hispanic about 6-foot-tall and weighing about 210 pounds, wearing a long sleeved gray sweatshirt with blue jeans and black pants.  He was last seen fleeing on foot but no direction of travel was reported.

The Wal-Mart armed robbery was reported in the midnight hour early Wednesday when employees,  who were removing money from bank bags,  were ordered to the floor inside the store, according to Manteca Police Lieutenant Tony Souza.

Souza said one of the men produced a hand gun and the other picked up the sacks of money.  The robbers were described as black male adults.  One was 5-foot-7 and wore a black wrestling type mask, hooded sweat shirt and weighed an estimated 165 pounds.

His accomplice was described as being of average height and wearing a camouflage sweat shirt.  Witnesses said they fled the store parking lot in a silver 2000 Honda CRV in an unknown direction. In both cases an undisclosed amount of cash was taken.  Similar Wal-Mart robberies have been reported in Stockton, police said.
