The arts come together at Lathrop High for the “Capture the Holiday” fund-raiser.

For $5 per scenery, folks can have a photo for the Yule Tide taken with Santa Claus or with a setting of inspired by the popular board game Candy Land, book and fictional movie Harry Potter (Hogwarts), or something out of a fairy tale (Gingerbread Wonderland and Dream Land).

A savings of $10 can be had for those opting to pay for three picture scenes – they’ll get all five scenes for the same price.

This first-ever event is scheduled Monday and Tuesday, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the LHS Theater stage. The public – included are service organizations, offices, sports teams or any large party – is invited to take part in any of the two photo shoots.

“Capture the Holiday” is the brainchild of first-year Drama instructor Hali Rosen. Proceeds will help support the Theater Arts’ spring musical of Grease.

Each photo taken by Kellie McKinnon’s Digital Arts students will be forwarded to the recipient via e-mail.

“The photo can be used for your Facebook profile or cover ready for the holiday season,” said Rosen, who received donations locally from the likes of Sherwin Williams and Starbuck’s.

In the process, McKinnon indicated that her art students learned about mixing paint colors while working on the sets thanks to the Sherwin Williams donation.

The LHS Music Department under the direction of Elizabeth VanEerde will perform Christmas Carols while pre-orders of Gingerbread houses and floral center pieces will be available.

In addition, hot cocoa and holiday goodies will be served.

Lathrop High is located at 647 Spartan Way.
