The Measure G Oversight Committee on voter-approved projects at Weston and Colony Oak schools will meet today at the Ripon Unified District Office Conference Room, 304 N. Acacia Ave.

At the 8 p.m. session, the board-appointed group will be presented with an update by the Program Management Integration team on the progress on plans at Weston.

Thus far, PMI, during the design development phase, was asked to add about 500 square feet for safety reasons to the gymnasium inside the multi-purpose building. Additional cost is estimated at $110,000 to the project budgeted at $10.4 million.

In order to offset additional cost, PMI reviewed options to value engineer the gym.

The team will identify other sources of funding that could be made available during the construction period, as allowed under the parameter set by the board.

The committee will also receive a time table on the project.

If all goes accordingly, reconstruction at Weston could begin this summer, with the school reopening in time for the 2015-2016 school year.

But in between, PMI is scheduled to announce that construction document approval to take place sometime in December.

During that time through April, the Division of State Architect, which provides design and construction oversight for K-12 schools, will review the plans, with the project possibly going out to bid in April or May.
