Modesto Police and the California Highway Patrol officers chased a Manteca suspect northbound on Highway 99 through Ripon and into Manteca shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday after an alleged home invasion robbery.

The pursuit entered into a Manteca residential neighborhood. Officers lost their suspect vehicle at West Alameda and Eleni Lane near the Tidewater Bike Path midway between Union Road and North Main Street.  One of the three suspects jumped out and ran from officers at that location.  Pursuing officers had called for a police canine assist from the Manteca Department.

Modesto Police also called for blood hounds from their department to aid in the tracking of the suspects.  The vehicle was eventually located in the 100 block of East Edison Avenue, behind the Bank of Stockton.

Richard Hoffman, of Manteca, was tracked and arrested on an armed robbery charge and one count of conspiracy.  He was transported to the Stanislaus County Jail in Modesto and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.  No court date had been set as of press time.
