MRPS holiday boutique set for weekend

Homemade items such as soaps, lotions, jewelry, or perhaps even candles could be that ideal gift for Christmas.

But the only way to find out is by stopping over at this weekend’s Holiday Boutique located inside the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant St. in Manteca.

Teresa Rieb, who is among the organizers, said those attending can expect to see over 30 vendors at the fifth annual event.

The boutique kicks off this Friday, Dec. 4, from 4 to 8 p.m.

The holiday event carries into the weekend, including Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. – “(You can) stop by before or after the Twilight Parade,” Rieb said – and Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Admission is free.

Neil Hafley winter concert on Dec. 9

The Neil Hafley School band and choir concert takes place Wednesday, Dec. 9, at 6:30 p.m. in the gym.

Performers will include the fourth through eighth grade choirs, sixth grade band and junior high band.

Knights of Columbus sponsors blood drive

The St. Anthony’s Catholic Church Knights of Columbus and Delta Blood Bank is conducting a blood drive on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in the cafeteria located at 525 E. North Street, Manteca.

For more information about this blood drive contact Bob Pico at 481-5005. All donors will receive a hand sanitizer, courtesy of Delta Blood Bank.

Hospice tree lighting tonight

Tonight at 6 p.m. the Hospice of San Joaquin Christmas lighting ceremonies start at Doctors Hospital of Manteca on the corner of North Street and Cottage Avenue.  

Donations for the symbolic lights honoring and memorializing loved ones run from $5 to $250.  The star at the top of the tree represents a $250 gift. Online donations may be made through the Hospice website at www.hospicesj.org. The events line is 922-0242.

Carols & Kisses through Dec. 19

East Union High School Choir members are available to carol to your friends, family members and party gatherings.  Their annual Carols and

Kisses fund raiser will be available from Dec. 3 through December 19.  

Prices start at $10 for two or three Christmas carols and a bag of Hershey Kisses.

Manteca holiday parade Saturday
Get ready for some Jingle Bell Rock, Manteca-style.

Jingle Bell Rock is the theme of the 27th annual Manteca Chamber of Commerce twilight holiday parade being staged Saturday, Dec. 5, starting at 5 p.m.

The parade marshal this year will be the South San Joaquin Irrigation District in recognition of the agency’s century of servcie to Manteca, Ripon, and Escalon.

The parade typically attracts 7,000 plus spectators along Yosemite Avenue between Library Park and Garfield Avenue by Manteca High.

Breakfast with Santa Saturday
Manteca Presbyterian Church’s annual Breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus is on Saturday, Dec. 5, from 8 to 11 a.m.  at the church at North Street and North Main Street. Tickets are on sale at the door and are $5 for adults, $3 for children 6 and above, under 6 are free.

Photos can be taken with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Craft items are also available for sale.
