Evelyn Carter Klippel passed away at the age of 93, in a local hospital on December 19, 2013. She was born in Palisade, Neb. on December 16, 1920.  She graduated from Palisade High School and entered nurses training at St. Luke’s Hospital in Denver, Colo. Following graduation she worked in the hospital in Imperial, Neb. In October of 1943 she enlisted in the US Navy at lieutenant (JG) and served in the South Pacific as a Navy nurse. Following her discharge she married the late William A. Klippel. They made their home in Manteca. She served as a nurse in Dr. Winter’s office from 1953 to 1975.  In 1976, she was employed at Palm Haven Convalescent Home until her retirement in 1991. She was listed on a World War II memorial for her efforts as a nurse “in the greatest generation.”
   She is survived by her son Kent of Manteca; sisters Eloise Rota of Napa and Shirley Fanning of Imperial, Neb; brother Frank Carter of Plano, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews. During the last year her needs were cared for by Sonjia and her daughters.
   Evelyn enjoyed reading, gardening and cooking. Private services were held. Memories and notes of sympathy may be left at claffeyandrota.com.
