Time to overhaul Manteca City Council

Editor, Manteca Bulletin,

Does Manteca need the big bad Great Wolf Resort? No. The city did not need a half million dollar baseball field either. But sneaky smooth talking by our Mayor Willie Weatherford and fast talking Councilman Vince Hernandez instructed numerous speakers to come forward and speak in to support of the baseball project, bumping other projects that was needed the most.

What is more needed for our fair city is a complete overhaul of the City Council. With councilman John Harris not seeking reelection and the mayor and councilman Hernandez on the way out let’s hope Councilwoman Debby Moorhead gives serious thought about running for mayor. It is time for a big change on this council. The five-man gang needs to be broken up. But since councilman Steve DeBrum and Hernandez are on the Great Wolf subcommittee they will some way snow ball city staff and other council members to tackle this project. Their only concern is money.

Ben Cantu is planning to run for mayor, “good luck Ben.” However De Brum has already been projected to be Manteca’s next mayor according to Supervisor Bob Elliott at a special social get-together held on Sept. 25, 2013 at the golf course restaurant. How amazing. I personally think Richard Silverman would be a good councilman with his background. He is very worthy to be on our council and I will support him. It is time for smooth talking fast talking DeBrum and Hernandez both to go. And now with the money issue always on city staff’s mind, the city has gone into the advertising business with big signs plastered on all the bus stops around town. What will be next: paying to walk down the streets?
