Allie Walljasper has yet to throw a pitch in 2014 for Sierra but the awards are pouring in anyway.

The LSU-bound pitcher was one of 30 players nationwide to be named to the MaxPreps 2014 Preseason All-American Softball Team. Only one other Northern Californian, Pitcher Johanna Grauer of Amador Valley (Pleasanton), joins Walljasper on this star-studded list comprised of 20 seniors and 10 juniors.

With Walljasper in the pitcher’s circle, the Timberwolves captured their second Sac-Joaquin Section title in three years and finished 2013 ranked No. 41 nationally by MaxPreps. At one point they were among the MaxPreps Xcellent 25. She was 18-2 in the regular season with a tidy 0.47 ERA, 0.88 batting average against and 227 strikeouts in 120 innings. Also big presence at the plate, Sierra’s clean-up slugger raked for a .482 average, four home runs and 20 RBIs.

The 6-foot-2 Walljasper was a MaxPreps Medium Schools All-American, earned All-State honors from Cal-Hi Sports and is a three-time Manteca Bulletin All-Area MVP.
