Jack Stonehocker joined his wife Joyce, on March 1, 2014. Jack was a born to Lee and Marie Stonehocker on February 3, 1928, in Wilder, Idaho. Jack’s immediate family included twin sisters, Peggy and Pat. Jack joined the Navy at age 17 and was a Seaman First Class. During his service, Jack was a tail gunner in a VP-47. After serving his country, Jack earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon. Later in life, Jack earned his master’s degree in Educational Administration from Stanislaus State University. Following his family’s tradition, Jack became a member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in 1950 and held the high honor of 32nd degree.
While working in McCall, Idaho, Jack met his future wife, Joyce Hasegawa. Jack and Joyce were married on October 24, 1952. Because Idaho didn’t allow inter-racial marriages at that time, they eloped to Oregon to be wed. Jack spent many years encouraging his children to compete in Judo throughout the state of California and his daughter in twirling baton competitively throughout the western United States. He was a wonderful father and role model for his children and grandchildren.
Jack worked for Manteca Unified School District as a teacher and administrator for 30 years before retiring. During retirement, Jack enjoyed fishing and camping with his friends and family. He treasured his Alaskan fishing trips with his family.
Jack is survived by his three children: Curtis Stonehocker and wife; Terrilee of Lemoore, CA; Craig Stonehocker and wife Una of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Jacqui Breitenbucker of Manteca, CA. Jack has 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Jack will be remembered for being a loving, supportive father and grandfather. The family has planned a private memorial. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Hospice of San Joaquin.
