Sierra bounced back from its season-opening loss with its commanding 12-1 five-inning victory at Johansen (Modesto) on Tuesday. The Timberwolves were coming off Monday’s 9-2 road defeat to Turlock.

Ryan Vasquez led the hit parade with a 3-for-3 effort that included two doubles. One of those doubles cleared the bases during a torrid nine-run rally in the second inning. Sierra tacked on three more in the third to put the mercy rule in play.

Sierra totaled 11 hits, with two coming from Tyler Moss.

Kyle Oden pitched four strong innings, striking out five, hitting one and walking none. He gave up Johansen’s only run in the fourth. Dakota Conners pitched the fifth inning in a combined two-hitter.

Sierra hosts Atwater on Friday for its home opener.
