It could not have been any closer for the Lathrop Spartans.
After a walk in the park in its last win Ripon was expecting a stiffer challenge from Delhi in Wednesday's nonleague matchup. The Indians weren't in awe, jumping on Delhi early and never relinquishing control in a 12-2 mercy-rule road game win.
LATHROP – The Lathrop Spartans got a solid outing from starting pitcher Mikey Pereznegron and a five-run third inning to power past visiting Gregori High 6-0 Tuesday.
RIPON – It was line drive after line drive and rocket after rocket.
OAKDALE – After closing out last week with a less-than-impressive showing on its home course, Ripon High was able to shake it off in a hurry, stinging Escalon in the Trans-Valley League opener 212-245 at Oakdale Golf and Country Club Tuesday.
For the kids it was all about getting better.
BAKERSFIELD - There is absolutely nothing for Ripon standout Trevor Smith to hang his head about.
Trevor Smith has had his sight set on a CIF Boys State Wrestling Championship for a long time.
Offensively Manteca is not where it would like to be. It is the complete opposite for the Buffaloes pitching staff, which is doing a phenomenal job of keeping the club in ball games. Pitching responded again Thursday, but no offense left Manteca on the short end of a 3-1 loss in the Johansen Tournament semifinal.

STOCKTON -- Lathrop snapped a two-game losing streak in thrilling fashion on Tuesday evening.
The Sierra Timberwolves were able to open the 2013 season victorious, blasting Livingston High 11-5 Friday in the season-opener for both clubs.
