Eskaton car show on Saturday

Eskaton Manteca Manor (544 Eastwood Ave. off of Northgate Drive) is hosting a car show and open house on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be raffle prizes, a silent auction, and hot dogs, chips and water for sale for $2, plus JPR Band will provide live music. ICF shrimp feed Saturday; prayer breakfast set May 7

The Italian Catholic Federation will be having its annual "All You Can Eat" shrimp dinner Saturday, May 2, at the St. Anthony Church gym. No-host cocktails begin at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7. I love books. I taught myself to read at the age of 5 and haven't put a book down ever since. As a child I won several "Queen of Children's Readers" contests held at the local library, where they kept track of every book I borrowed, and several years in a row I came close to the number 300.
