Weekend honors America’s fallen

Join the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 500 as they remember the Fallen Veterans from California who were either killed in action or are currently prisoners of war or missing in action the Vietnam War during the 15th annual Reading of the Names Ceremony at California State Capitol Park on Sunday, May 25, at noon. Before the ceremony, at 7 a.m., volunteers will start reading the approximately 5,823 names found on the California Vietnam Veterans Memorial in 15-minute intervals.

Everything from Art in the Park to Chocolate & Cherry festivals

The Manteca Junior Women's Club is staging Children's Art in the Park on Saturday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Library Park in downtown Manteca. There will be free arts and crafts. Manteca, the Family City. I've called home since 2009 and wouldn't trade it for any other city in California. I love it even with the five McDonalds, three Taco Bells and abundance of taquerias, and I don't mind it, because I learned my lesson years ago.

Talent show, wine tastings on tap

Easter weekend fun: Egg hunts, beer & more

Shrimp feed & fish fry to Civil War re-enactment

Manteca's Every 15 Minutes Program's 6th annual Shrimp Feed will take place on Saturday, March 22, at the MRPS Hall, 133 N. Grant Street in Manteca. Social hour starts at 5 p.m., while an all-you-can-eat-shrimp dinner with pasta, salad and dessert will be served at 6:30 followed by a raffle at 8 and DJ playing until midnight. Don't worry about driving home though, a safe and sober ride home will be available. Tickets are $35 each. It’s time for everyone to celebrate everything Irish

Combined flea market, yard sale set for Saturday

The Manteca Senior Center Advisory Committee and Manteca Seniors Helping Area Residents and Police combined flea market and yard sale is this Saturday, July 26, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be 30 vendors selling garage and new items, from arts & crafts to collectibles inside the Manteca Senior Center, 295 Cherry Lane, and SHARP will host the backyard sale directly behind the senior center building. Guys, your success is hanging on by a hair

My dad was always very proud of his raven black hair and raven black mustache. When his 40th birthday rolled around, the first gray hair appeared. But he didn't get discouraged by the obvious sign of aging. He simply got his hair and mustache colored the darkest shade of black during his regular hair trim every month. He turned 60 this February and he looks as good as always, with only few people knowing his secret.
