Late surge pushes Manteca juniors into finals

STOCKTON - Manteca scored two runs in the fifth and two more in the sixth to pull away from Spreckels Park for an 8-4 win in semifinal action of the Little League District 67 Juniors All Star Tournament at Paul Weston Park.

Spreckels, Northgate in 10-11 quarters

Niko Reitz had a two-RBI double and beat the throw home on Kyle Bagley's fielder's choice to cap a six-run fifth inning Sunday for Spreckels Park, ending the second-round contest with Manteca at 13-3 via the mercy rule in the Little League District 67 10-11 All Star Tournament at Spreckels Park Little League.

TRACY - When the Tracy American White Sox scored on the Manteca Red Sox on Monday, that was the only run the Red Sox have given up in two games of the Little League District 67 Juniors Tournament of Champions, but that would not slow Manteca down as the Red Sox rolled to an 11-1 five-run mercy rule win at Monticello School.

Local all-stars fall in showdown

STOCKTON – Despite the best efforts of the Manteca High and Sierra High girls playing for Valley Oak League/San Joaquin Athletic Association, Tri-City Athletic League snuck a goal through in the closing seconds in the Fifth Annual San Joaquin Soccer Alliance All-Star Game on Sunday at Lincoln High School's Spanos Stadium for a 3-2 win.
