East Union put up seven runs in the second inning against visiting Ripon Saturday on the way to an 11-1 Lancers win in the third annual Cancer Awareness Softball Game at Northgate Softball Complex's Garvine Field.
Less than two blocks from my home Saturday there was a man washing his three cars with an open hose in his driveway. The water run-off ran the length of the block, turned a corner and was flowing down into the storm drain at a nice steady rate.

Nick Oseguera laced a two-out two-RBI double in the third inning to cap a four-run frame and give Sierra the margin of victory in a 4-2 win Saturday over visiting Modesto in non-league baseball action.
Katelyn Allen brought home three gold medals for East Union on Saturday from the Jaguar Relays at Kimball High in Tracy and helped led the Lancers girls to a fourth-place finish while teammate Cody Keener won the high jump as part of the East Union boys attack that also finished fourth.

LATHROP - Manteca's Haighley Kissee did it all for the Buffaloes on Thursday in a 17-0 five-inning road win over Lathrop in Valley Oak League softball action.
Ilena Rivera scored a goal midway through the first half, toward the end of the half and added one in the second half for a hat trick to lead East Union to a 5-1 Valley Oak League soccer win over Sierra on Wednesday at Dino Cunial Field.
When Sierra's Josh Patton continues his basketball career next season at Sac State, he will have left behind some pretty big shoes to fill. Timberwolves junior Jess Spivey tried those shoes on for size Saturday night, stepping up when Patton was forced to leave the game with foul trouble and helped lead Sierra to a 65-57 quarterfinal NorCal playoff win over visiting Archbishop Riordan-San Francisco.
STOCKTON – Sierra was four outs away from a win over Gregori in the Banner Island Classic on Saturday when the Jaguars managed an RBI single and then the Timberwolves committed multiple errors to give Gregori the go-ahead run.

One day after rapping out 12 hits to earn a ticket to the championship round, the Northgate Cubs bats went quiet Sunday as the Cubs scored two runs in the last two innings but that was not enough as the Salida Rockies held on for a 3-2 win for the championship of the District 67 Majors Tournament of Champions at Lincoln Park.
With Tyler Looney keeping the Manteca Tigers bats quiet and the Northgate Cardinals bats lighting up the diamond, the Cardinals won the District 67 Minors Tournament of Champions 14-1 in a mercy-rule four-inning contest Saturday at Brock Elliott School.

Luke Abrew and Tyler Looney of the Cardinals combined to three-hit the White Sox on Thursday in a 7-2 win for the White Sox in Northgate minor playoff action on Bassi Field. The Cardinals win sets up a winner-take-all showdown between the two teams on Saturday at 9 a.m.
The White Sox pounded out three hits to start the fifth inning Wednesday and took advantage of two Brewers errors to put up three runs in the frame to come from behind and post a 7-5consolation win in the Northgate Little League major tournament.
