RIPON - When the smoke of the cleared from Thursday's North Ripon Road motor home inferno, another emergency call came over the radio involving a choking 8-month-old child who had reportedly quit breathing at a home on Murphy Road – a mile to the east.

Man escapes burning motor home

A man barely escaped with his life suffering burns from a motor home fire Thursday morning that sent billowing black smoke skyward over a rural farm area north of Ripon.

• VEHICLE ACCIDENT, WEST LATHROP ROAD, AUG. 7: Manteca Firefighters were dispatched to a vehicle into a building on West Lathrop Road. Upon arrival, firefighters found that a vehicle had driven through the plate glass wall of a restaurant. Firefighters immediately assessed the area looking for injuries. Fortunately, the restaurant, which was full just a half hour prior to the accident, had just a few people inside and no injuries were reported. Firefighters evacuated the remaining patrons from the scene over the broken glass and debris. Firefighters then secured the scene so that the vehicle could be removed.
