GECAC offering six service challenge scholarship awards

Give Every Child a Chance (GECAC) is once again offering the Service Challenge Scholarship. A total of six $1,000 scholarships are available to one graduating senior selected from each high school in Manteca Unified School District (Sierra, Calla, Manteca, East Union, Weston Ranch and New Vision High Schools).

Oldest Sikh Temple holds Sikh Day New Year parade

Sikhs from Lathrop and Manteca will join other members from all over San Joaquin County in celebrating the annual Sikh Day Parade in Stockton commemorating the Sikh New Year. The parade will be held through downtown Stockton on Sunday, April 18, from noon to 4 p.m. and will end at the Sikh Temple at 1930 S. Grant Street. The celebration is open to the public.

CAR WASH TODAY

Scenes from car wash fundraiser for Victoria Martin conducted Thursday at Les Schwab Tire Center. The former yard supervisor at the McParland School Annex is currently undergoing medical treatment at Sutter Tracy Community Hospital while battling cancer. The family which is having a tough go of it financially is hoping to secure funds so Martin can be placed in hospice care. A second car wash is today starting at 10 a.m. at the 7-Eleven on the corner of Yosemite Avenue and Powers Avenue.
