Firefighters collect 5,000 pounds of food for needy

Student mural contest offers winner $250

The Manteca Mural Society is hosting its very first Student Mural Contest where a student or group of students who attend or live within Manteca Unified School District boundaries has/have an opportunity to paint a mural on a building located in Manteca. Contestants must submit a mural design to the Manteca Mural Society by Dec. 1.

Code 3 for a Cure takes place Friday at Ripon’s fire station

RIPON - A fire engine manned by a crew of cancer surviving firefighters is sweeping across the U.S. with their message of awareness and early diagnosis targeted at other fire service personnel. Fire Chief Dennis Bitters is hosting that crew Friday morning at 9 a.m. in front of Station One.

University of Pacific history book project for Gilbertson

STOCKTON - Phil Gilberston, provost at University of the Pacific, has been selected to write a book on the history of the University, it was announced this week. Gilbertson's book will focus mostly on the past 40 years of Pacific's history but will include a narrative of the first 120 years.
