The women of the Manteca Soroptimists are offering an outstanding list of specialty items at their annual yard sale set for Saturday in the parking lot of the Bank of Stockton on North Main Street in Manteca.
It was a life and death foot pursuit Tuesday morning on the Highway 120 Bypass as Manteca Police Sergeant Julie Renfro risked her life dashing 150 yards to prevent a despondent 47-year- old man from ending his life in freeway traffic.

It might have only been the first Downtown Farmer's Market of the year, but the dozen farms represented enjoyed the best start that the weekly outdoor summer event has had since it was rekindled by the Manteca Convention and Visitors Bureau several years ago.
With rain falling through the month of May; this year's fire season is primed to be the worst in recent years. Weeds have grown to record heights and are beginning to dry rapidly. The Fire Chiefs of San Joaquin County are urging all citizens to take immediate action on any grasses or weeds that may pose a fire danger.
The stark reality of the Memorial Day observance on Monday hit home hard when it was announced at the beginning of the program at East Union Cemetery that one of Manteca's own sons serving in Afghanistan had been wounded in the chest.
