Coast Guard rescues 3

HALF MOON BAY, (AP) - Authorities say a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter rescued three of four people in a vehicle that went down an embankment on Highway 92 near Half Moon Bay. The crash around 12:30 a.m. Thursday resulted in minor injuries. But CHP Officer Art Montiel said the vehicle became stuck about 600 feet down an embankment.

Dwanda Mahoney - described as a transient by police - was being held without bail Thursday, a day after her arrest. Police say they received a report of a crying baby in a flower bed at a home in Galt around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday. The baby had been born about 20 minutes earlier. She is expected to survive.
